MAPELEC®: Paints for EMC

The MAPELEC® paint range provides an advanced solution for electromagnetic shielding of plastic components, a crucial concept in the context of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

Electromagnetic interference shielding relies on the dissipation of energy from incident waves by a conductive material, such as substrates coated with MAPELEC® paints.

When an electromagnetic wave strikes a surface coated with our paints formulated with specific conductive materials, free charges react to the wave’s electric field. This phenomenon causes charge displacement within the paint layer, resulting in significant energy dissipation. Part of the energy is absorbed by the coated surface itself, while another portion is reflected with reduced amplitude.

The electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) provided by our conductive paints ensures the reliable operation of equipment in their electromagnetic environment, preventing the emission or reception of interference that could disrupt their performance. MAPELEC® paints are designed to deliver optimal protection while maintaining high standards of performance and reliability, meeting the critical demands of the defense, electronics, and aerospace sectors.

Our manufacturing process

Discover our rigorous manufacturing process, the cornerstone of the quality and reliability of our range. Every step, from the careful preparation of semi-finished products to the controlled dispersion of fillers, including prolonged pigment wetting and strict quality controls, is meticulously orchestrated to meet the demanding specifications related to electromagnetic shielding.

Our history

1996

The birth of the EMC department at Map Space Coatings in Ariège and the beginning of the development of the MAPELEC range

2003

Creation of the company Map Deco in Haute-Savoie for the development and manufacturing of specific technical paints and varnishes (formerly Verniplast)

2020

Creation of the company Map Chêne. The activities of Map Deco, Vermalac and Map Ten (solutions for natural stone gloss) are consolidated within this new entity to better focus on its mission: providing high added-value technical solutions to its clients

2021

Transfer of the Map Elec activity from Map Space Coatings to integrate it into Map Chêne's offering of high added-value technical coatings and ensure the developments of tomorrow
